Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How much will your services cost me?
A. This will depend on the complexity of the site, the number of pages, the number of images and the type of source material you provide.  It will probably be a lot less than you think though!  For example, this website took about 4 hours to create and would cost less than £100.

Q. How do I get some webspace?
A. For the most professional appearance you should register a domain name, for example www.websiteslave.com, and have this hosted by an Internet Service Provider.

Q. That sounds expensive!
A. To register a .co.uk name costs less than £5 per year.  A .com name costs less than £10 per year.  You can have your website professionally hosted for around £20 a year.

Q. I have some free webspace, can I use that?
A. Certainly.  You can register a domain name and have this name forwarded to your free webspace.  This is not such a good solution as a hosted website, but works quite well.  In fact this website operates in that manner.

Q. Can you write websites that allow my customers to make electronic purchases?
A. We can, but we do not offer that service.  We are here to write simple websites that require minimum maintenance.

Q. Can you write websites that allow dynamically generated content such as pages of secondhand cars with photographs?
A. See the answer to the previous question!

Q. What tools do you use to write your websites?
A. Websites are typically coded in Frontpage 2003 or hand-coded.  Unless requested we do not use any of Frontpage's proprietary features - this means your site can be hosted almost anywhere and easily maintained without requiring Frontpage to do so.
